Another trip by Captain Morrell (Bravo Zulu!)

Captain Robert Morrell took out more veterans. This is his third Take a Vet Fishing Trip.

We had the honor of hosting anther Take-A-Vet fishing Trip on Weds October 17th. The day showed dead calm seas, a far cry from the week before when we were suppose t sail and gail warnings had been posted.
Three outstanding young men SSgt Andy Silkworth, SSgt Scott Wagner and Tsgt Mike Fletcher all in the USAF stationed at Maguire AFB were beaming as they came down the dock. After introductions were made we were off to a great day of fishing. Things started a little slow as we tried for stripers in a few different spots. With only Skates, Dog Fish and Sea Robbins at home we changed tactics.
Went in search of working birds and soon fund fish breaking water, the boys were having a blast battling Blues to 10 lbs. After chasing the Blues we headed out t the Sandy Hook Reef, soon the boys were bringing in Sea Bass and Tog.
We finished the day in search of active fish readings, again we were battling Blues to 12 lbs but no Stripers at home.
The guys were extreme gentlemen and had great appreciation for the days outing. I told them that no it was I who was indebted to them for the service they are doing for our country.
The most important part of the day was the great time everybody had and the new friends that were made.

We are looking forward to the next trip with US servicemen/women

Captain Robert Morrell took out another soldier and his family today. This is his second Take a Vet Fishing Trip.

A message from Rob Morrell of Sandy Hook Charters: "I recently hosted another Take-A-Vet Fishing trip, I've enclosed the story behind the trip and pictures for you. About 2 weeks ago I was contacted by a gentleman to charter my boat. After going over all the details, we then came to picking a date. Ken explained to me he was in the Army Stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and was coming to NJ to visit family. He also stated that he would have his 4 sons Daniel, Ken, Kyle and Kameron, that he was just reunited with Kyle and Kameron after 2 yrs. It was now that I felt a lump in my throat, I explained to Ken about Take-A-Vet fishing and that a number of Captains supported it, Ken was taken back to say the least. We set a date for our adventure. Today was the big day I was greeted with clouds, fog and drizzle upon my arrival at the boat. My gloom was short lived as I saw 5 big smiles coming down the dock. After introductions and hand shakes we set off on out adventure. Almost from the beginning heavy rain, thunder and fog prevailed, and the Fluke were not cooperating. We ran across a school of Blues and played with them boating blues from 4-7 lbs. Even if we did not catch a fish just watching Ken with his sons was enough, the boys had never been salt water fishing and loved each and every moment of the experience. The elements finally forced a premature end to our trip. But a trip I will remember for a long time. Bag of Ice $2.00, Pint of Kellies $12.00 the smile on the faces of Father and sons sharing a special moment Priceless. Ken and the boys are invited back to fish with us at any time, we can only wish the best for this true American Family and that the Lord watches over SFC Ken Kanach as he continues to serve our great nation."

Capt. Anthony W. Reina of Angela Rose Charters sent us these photos of his Take a Vet Fishing trip Memorial Day weekend. I finally got to meet Tony at the Veterans' Memorial Celebration of Freedom at Bar-A in Lake Como May 28 where The Hey Baby Band rocked the house.

Operation Take a Vet Fishing pictures from Capt. Bob Morrell of Sandy Hook Fishing Adventures who writes:

On May 17th I had the honor of Major Justin Neiderer his wife Angela and Capt Jay Calwell join me for a day of Striped Bass Blue fishing. Justin and Jay are both stationed at Maguire AFB in New Jersey.  The day started out a little shaky weather wise but settled down to be picture perfect. The group tangled with some Monster Blue fish and Striped bass to 34", it was a great time and a most rewarding experience for me. The best part of the day was everybody made a new friend. We look forward to honor other veterans/soldiers. I've attached some photos for the site.

Capt. Jay Cauldwell, stationed at McGuire AFB, NJ has sent us our first pictures. Although not taken this year, these pictures were taken during previous trips as part of the Take a Soldier Fishing initiative.
